At only 21 years old, Colin Braun has already made a career out of broken records and firsts. With two championships, three Rookie-of-the-Year awards, and a multitude of wins and poles, he has accomplished more in his still-burgeoning career than many drivers do in a lifetime.
Colin began racing at the age of 6 in Quarter Midgets, then transitioned to kart racing at 8 years old, winning many national karting championships. Driving for international factory go-kart teams, Colin competed in Italy, Monaco, and Japan until the age of 14, when he made the switch to cars. Racing Formula Renault TR1600, Colin took home the championship and Rookie-of-the-Year honors after winning 8 of 11 races in 2003. He followed up his success with a championship in Formula TR 2000 Pro Series the following year.
Colin made his GRAND-AM debut at the age of 16, competing for Team 16 in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in a Porsche 996 GT3. That same season he made history when he became the youngest driver of a Daytona Prototype at 17, driving an Essex Racing Ford Crawford. Joining Krohn Racing in 2006, Colin won his first career Grand Am race at the Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona, becoming the youngest driver in North America to win a major auto race at 17 years, 9 months, and 7 days old. At the end of the season, SPEED and Racer Magazine named Colin Rookie-of-the-Year for all of motorsports.
Colin became the youngest driver to stand on the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans when he finished second in his class in a Ferrari F430 in 2007. That same season he entered into a driver development contract with Roush Fenway Racing, making his ARCA RE/MAX Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and NASCAR Nationwide Series debuts.
In 2008 and 2009 Colin competed full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the No. 6 Con-Way Freight Ford F-150 for Roush Fenway Racing, earning Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year honors in 2008, and scoring his first win and five pole positions in 2009. He also made a total of six NASCAR Nationwide Series starts for Roush over the course of the two seasons, earning two pole positions and a top-5 finish.
Colin has been named to pilot the Roush Fenway Racing No. 16 Con-Way Freight Ford full-time in 2010 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
