Roush Fenway Racing was founded in 1988 as a small branch of owner Jack Roush's successful automotive engineering and road-racing equipment business based in Livonia, Michigan. The NASCAR operation, based in Concord, North Carolina, has since become the cornerstone of the company, winning races and championships in each of NASCAR’s top-3 series. In 2007, Roush merged with Fenway Sports Group, owner of the Boston Red Sox, marking the first time that owners of a professional franchise in one of the four major leagues have crossed over into the world of NASCAR.
In its inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, Roush Fenway Racing won one pole and earned ten top-10 finishes with driver Mark Martin behind the wheel. The team won back-to-back Sprint Cup Series Championships in 2003 with driver Matt Kenseth and 2004 with driver Kurt Busch.
After winning 32 championships and more than 360 races in drag racing, sports cars, and stock car racing, including five championships in NASCAR’s top-3 series, Roush Fenway Racing has cemented itself as one of NASCAR’s premiere racing teams.
Since its inception, Roush has competed exclusively in Ford brand automobiles, running the Ford Fusion in the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series, and Ford F-150 in the Camping World Truck Series. In 2010, the NASCAR Nationwide Series integrates the Ford Mustang GT into the Nationwide Series lineup.
