Colin Braun E-Newsletter: NASCAR Nationwide Series Bucyrus 200 presented by Menards Road America
Elkhart Lake, WI • Saturday, June 19, 2010

WELCOMING RICK VIERS - Rick Viers has been named crew chief for the No. 16 and will make his debut this weekend with Colin Braun at Road America. Most recently, Viers was calling shots for the No. 27 Nationwide Series team with Roush Fenway Racing driver Greg Biffle. Together the pair notched three top-fives and seven top-10 finishes in 10 starts. Viers owns eight career Nationwide Series victories.

LOOKING TO EXTEND THE STREAK
- Braun heads to Road America hot off of his second consecutive top-10 finish. After starting 13th, Braun avoided the trouble from numerous late-race cautions to finish 10th at Kentucky Speedway last weekend.

LEANING ON EXPERIENCE - While it is the Nationwide Series' first trip to Road America, Braun has previous experience he will call upon for this weekend's start. Back in the days where Braun would routinely compete on road courses in the various sports car series, Braun tested a Pro Mazda car at the four-mile road course.

BRAUN AT ROAD COURSES - Braun has made two career Nationwide Series starts on road courses, Mexico City in 2008 and Montreal in 2009. Braun earned the pole in Mexico City and ran in the third position for most of the event before a pit road penalty relinquished the team to a 33rd-place finish.

ROUSH FENWAY AT ROAD COURSES - In the team's 37 road course starts, Roush Fenway Racing has one win, seven top-fives, 14 top-10s, one pole award and 47 laps led. The win came from Carl Edwards last season at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal and the pole was secured by Colin Braun in Mexico City in 2008.

ROAD AMERICA CHASSIS SELECTION - Crew chief Rick Viers has selected RK-488 for this weekend at Road America. This car was last raced in 2009 by Braun at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada where he finished 40th after experiencing mechanical failure on lap two.

QUOTES
Braun, on getting to race at Road America and working with new crew chief Rick Viers:
"I'm definitely looking forward to Road America this weekend. It's been a while, but I tested a sports car there a few years ago. I've had a good last couple of races with the top-10s at Dover and Kentucky and I want to keep that momentum going this weekend on the first road course of the year. It's great to have Rick Viers come on board at Roush Fenway and I'm excited at the opportunity to work with him. He did some awesome things with Greg (Biffle) in that No. 27 car earlier this year and I think he will be a great addition to this team."

Crew chief Rick Viers, on joining Roush Fenway and working with Colin Braun:
"I'm thrilled with the opportunity I have to come over and lead the No. 16 team here at Roush Fenway Racing. Just being here for a very short period of time, I can see there are a ton of resources at my disposal and it's a highly engineer driven shop which I really enjoy. I feel like Road America is a really good place for me to start having Colin (Braun) in the car and I'm excited to work with him and the rest of this team."
